Without realizing it, we’ve rolled into quite a series over the last few days; and this series has been focusing on why and how Jesus has the last word in our lives, no matter what the world may tell us.

We began this series by looking at how we are such a blessed bunch because in the past, God only spoke “…to the fathers long ago in [the voices and writings of] the prophets in many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the truth],” Hebrews 1:1 [AMP]

But now, He “has in these last days spoken [with finality] to us in [the person of One who is by His character and nature] His Son [namely Jesus],…” Hebrews 1:2 [AMP]

And because of this, we can have the confidence that God has given Jesus the last say over every situation in our lives.

Then we started looking at the areas of our lives in which Jesus has set His promises over; and we began with how

“I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” John 6:35

And we saw how we never need to worry for worldly provision ever again.

Then we looked at how

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

And we saw how we who believe, never need to worry about sin ever again; because Jesus, like a protective parent, is constantly watching over us and is ever ready to come swooping down to arrest any situation that will lead us to sin.

Then we looked at how

“I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” John 10:9

And we saw how we never need to fear that we will ever be led astray, as long as we check that the preaching that we are receiving aligns with all that Jesus has promised and taught us.

Then we looked at how

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” John 10:11

And we saw just how blessed, protected and provided we really are, just because God has purposed, even before we realized it, that we are sheep that belong to His fold.

Then finally, just yesterday, we looked at how

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” John 11:25

And we saw how Jesus loves to exceed our expectations and go beyond our wildest imagination when He answers our prayers. So we should never let our imagination limit what we think Jesus can do for us.

Today we shall look at what I consider as Jesus’ 3-in-1 ‘I am’.

“…I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

This revelation is, by far, Jesus’ richest for us and we will do well to glean all we can from it; for in it holds the keys to our peace of mind, for this life and the hereafter. Let us see why.

‘Jesus is The Way’
This is the first of three parts in this revelation of Himself. Now, when Jesus said this, He was telling His disciples that He was soon going to heaven. But they had no cause for worry, because He was merely going to prepare a place for them and would soon come back for them. So literally, the first place we should have peace of mind is for our ‘hereafter’; because since Jesus has said,

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3

We should not even wonder IF we will go to heaven after we have shuffled off this mortal coil, because, for us who believe in Jesus, we are SURELY going to heaven. He gives no ‘ifs’ or ‘buts’. He is clear and emphatic. He will come again and receive us to Himself; that where He is, there we may be also.

But this revelation is richer than that. Because when Jesus said,

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17

He corroborated and then guaranteed what John said of Him,

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13

This therefore not only makes Jesus the way for us to get to heaven; this makes Jesus our way back into our Father’s good books. For when Jesus went to the cross,

“Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5

He bore our punishment on our behalf, so now, God has no reason to be upset with us anymore. We have not only been brought back into the presence of God, we have not only been written back into God’s good books, Jesus has made us rightfully and justifiably eligible for all the provision and protection which our Father desires to give us. So Jesus is our way back into a blessed life.

‘Jesus is The Truth’
Now, this second part of the revelation is often overlooked, because not only do people usually overlook anything that is in the middle of a trio, ‘the truth’ is sometimes a very abject concept to fathom. So all that Jesus tells us is the truth. Right, and so?

But think about this carefully, beloved. Because

“God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?” Numbers 23:19 [AMP]

This means that all that Jesus has said to us, all that Jesus has promised us, every single word, is the truth, and they will all come true for us.

I know it will take a little bit of time for it all to sink in, but give it time; for when it does finally blow your mind, and you see it manifesting in your life, drop us a note and tell us all about it; because not only are we confident that it will happen for you, we know that your story will encourage others to put their trust in Jesus. So can we have a deal? When Jesus has become The Truth for you, let us know about it.

‘Jesus is The Life’
Finally, Life. We often hear others say, when they are enjoying themselves, ‘This is the life’. Heard that before? What are they doing when they are saying that? Lying in a hammock by the beach, enjoying the rays while sipping a Pina Colada? Or looking at children play on the front lawn, while sharing a cup of coffee with a loving spouse on the patio? Or reclining in a First Class Cabin with champagne on the side table, flying from city to city, enjoying the jet-set early retirement?

So what is ‘The Life’ for you? Have an image in your mind? While I am not guaranteeing that it will happen exactly as you imagined, I am sure that because Jesus is The Word of God, and

“…the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

He knows what you really want out of all those forms of luxury. He knows the true source of your joy; and He will make sure that when He answers your prayers, your joy will be no less than what you would have if you could have all your wishes come true. How am I so sure? Because Jesus has said,

“I come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

So beloved, Jesus truly is ‘The Way, The Truth and The Life’. He has brought us back into a right relationship with God, one that qualifies us for His unmerited blessings of provision and protection. He has also come to bring us an abundant life, one filled with blessings that will bring us joy in each and every area that we desire. And the best thing is, we can have confidence that it will all happen, just as Jesus says it would, because He is The Truth.

So rest and trust in Him. Jesus has it all covered.
