THE DAY OF THE LORD, FOR YOU

,
THE DAY OF THE LORD, FOR YOU

A common cry amongst those who are waiting for our Father’s deliverance is ‘how shall I know’, ‘what sign shall I see’. Indeed, we realize that there are many distractions in this world, and when times get rough, when finances run low or when illness overtake our bodies, the allure of quick fixes become strong, even though we know we should stay away from them. Yet, while we do our best to resist the temptation, we still wonder just what our Father is doing in our situation and for our situation. We would like to know just how the day which our Father has planned for our deliverance from our situation will look like. Well, beloved, if this is you,

“Let the priests, who minister to the Lord,
Weep between the porch and the altar;
Let them say, “Spare Your people, O Lord,
And do not give Your heritage to reproach,
That the nations should rule over them.
Why should they say among the peoples,
‘Where is their God?’”” Joel 2:17

Then this message is written especially for you.

Beloved, remember that our Father has said,

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17

So when

“They utter speech, and speak insolent things;
All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves.
They break in pieces Your people, O Lord,
And afflict Your heritage.
They slay the widow and the stranger,
And murder the fatherless.
Yet they say, “The Lord does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob understand.”” Psalm 94:4-7

You can be sure that our Father is seated bolt upright. His ears are tuned, His eyes see and He will act quickly. But just what will happen on that day? Well, it will look like this.

“The Lord will answer and say to His people,
“Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil,
And you will be satisfied by them;
I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations.” Joel 2:19

He will send you provision. And not just provision to fill your stomach, not just grain so you won’t go hungry, wine will come so that you may enjoy the riches of His provision and oil will come so that you may once again be anointed before your enemies. So if it is lack that you are facing, if you have lost ground and standing in your situation, circumstance and community, these are the very things which our Father will start with so that not only will you be supplied, you will also be restored in substance and stature before all who are looking on.

“But I will remove far from you the northern army,
And will drive him away into a barren and desolate land,
With his face toward the eastern sea
And his back toward the western sea;
His stench will come up,
And his foul odor will rise,
Because he has done monstrous things.” Joel 2:20

Then, once you are re-established in your circumstance, our Father will then remove your enemies from you. Now the enemy here is referred to as ‘him’. And we have a good idea of who that refers to. So does that mean that our Father’s protection is only for the supernatural and not the natural? No, beloved, by no means. Do you remember how Satan tempted Jesus? Do you remember how he works?

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”” Matthew 4:1-3

Jesus had to be led by the Spirit in order that Satan can get anywhere near Him. So that means that our Father has got to allow it first. So think about it. Because,

“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

So if any bad were to befall us, our Father must have had to allow it first. And why does He allow it? Why did He allow Job to be tested?

“Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”” Job 1:8

Yes, He was proud of Job, He had confidence in Job; and in the same manner, when He allows you to be tested, He is proud of you and He has every confidence that you will pass the test for just like Jesus prayed for Peter when He was tested by Satan, so too is our Father keeping a very close eye on proceedings and making sure that

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

So that in the end you will come out of it victorious, just like

“Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.” 1 Peter 1:7 [MSG]

Not only that, Satan does not attack you by getting in your face and giving you a tight slap. He works through words; it could be the words of your bosses, or the words of your family, or the words of your clients, or even the words of the doctors. All those words and actions that hurt you in the natural are all spawn of you know who.

Therefore when you see the provision coming, when you see the anointing coming, when it becomes unmistakably clear that our Father has been carrying you through the problems and you are coming out better than ever before,

“Be glad then, you children of Zion,
And rejoice in the Lord your God;
For He has given you the former rain faithfully,
And He will cause the rain to come down for you—
The former rain,
And the latter rain in the first month.” Joel 2:23

For just as our Father has delivered you in the past, just as He has caused rain to come down into your situation so that the dry land may once again bear fruit, so too is rain coming down for you. And don’t think this is some spiritual metaphor either, for

“The threshing floors shall be full of wheat,
And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.” Joel 2:24

His provision is real, His provision is tangible, His provision will literally fill you up.

You know, beloved, if you read our Father carefully, the first sign of deliverance is not the vanquishing of your enemies. We often think that deliverance comes when our enemies are gone. But that is not our Father’s way. Provision is the first sign. Supply is the first sign. In fact, our enemies only leave when we are fully supplied and fully provided for. Indeed, this is the way our Father delivers us,

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.” Psalm 23:5

In the presence of your enemies, you will be fed. In the presence of your enemies, you will be anointed. In the presence of your enemies, you will have an overflowing abundance. You know, if you are feeling a little guilty because you like to stick it to your enemies when your situation turns around, stop feeling guilty about it. Because our Father likes to stick it to your enemies more than you do. In fact He says,

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.” Joel 2:25

In that day, He will restore to you all that the world has comprehensively taken from you, for even if you feel that all has been taken and all is lost, even if you feel that

“What the chewing locust left, the swarming locust has eaten;
What the swarming locust left, the crawling locust has eaten;
And what the crawling locust left, the consuming locust has eaten.” Joel 1:4

Our Father says that what the consuming locust has eaten, He will restore; what the crawling locust has eaten, He will restore; what the swarming locust has eaten, He will restore and what the chewing locust has eaten, He will restore; and just for good measure, He will even restore to you anything which His great army which He sent amongst you to protect you and deliver you has taken from you.

It’s like this. A town was occupied by enemy troops during the war. During the occupation, the enemy raped, looted and pillaged. The townsfolk were literally stripped bare of all they had. Now, when the rescuing army came back to free the town, they had to rely on the townsfolk for provisions until the fighting was over and they could be resupplied. So what Jesus is saying is when the supply truck comes rolling in, not only will you be provided with whatever the enemy took, even that which you gladly gave to His troops who liberated you will be restored to you. That is how comprehensive His rescue is. And all this will be done in front of your enemies.

Beloved, if you are looking for deliverance, turn your eyes away from your enemies and look out for the supply. Our Father does not vanquish first. Our Father supplies first. Indeed,

“You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
And praise the name of the Lord your God,
Who has dealt wondrously with you;
And My people shall never be put to shame.” Joel 2:26

For our Father is more interested in making sure that you look good and are living well. And once He has accomplished that,

“Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel:
I am the Lord your God
And there is no other.
My people shall never be put to shame.” Joel 2:27

No matter what you are going through, no matter how your situation looks, your deliverance is coming, your supply is coming. Our Father is going to stick it to your enemies because He wants to stick it to your enemies even more than you do. And while He is on the way, while He is working in your circumstance, remember, He has said it twice,

“My people shall never be put to shame.”
