We all have some idea of when ‘too late’ is. With our spouses, there is a fine line that, when crossed, starts a week long cold war. With our bosses, there is that one mistake that when committed, spells the end of our time in the company. Even with our children, there is that one thing that they can do that will land them in the ‘naughty chair’. This idea of being too late is certainly not a new concept and if you are 25 minutes too late, it is too late to apologize and you will be left high and dry.

But what about Jesus? Can we ever be too late with Jesus? Well, beloved, there will be day when

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:21-23

So unfortunately, yes, we can be too late. But that time has not yet come, because you see, judgement will come together with the renewal of the earth. Simply put, you will know it’s too late when you see this happen, and still have not accepted Christ.

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”” Revelation 21:1-4

On that day, certainly, the only thing you will hear the angels say to you is ‘too bad’.

But that day has not come. There is still, fortunately or unfortunately, pain in the world. We are still crying and people are still dying. So because of that, take heart. It is still not too late. Indeed, for us, the prophet Isaiah has this advice,

“Seek the Lord while He may be found;
Call on Him [for salvation] while He is near.
Let the wicked leave (behind) his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
And let him return to the Lord,
And He will have compassion (mercy) on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:6-7 [AMP]

If you think you have been wicked, there is still time. Leave your wicked ways behind and turn to Him. If you think your thoughts have been unrighteous, if you are feeling guilty for wanting your horrible boss dead all day long, there is still time. Leave your cares at the feet of Jesus and let Him minister to you. Return to Jesus. He will abundantly pardon, for remember,

“Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Matthew 26:27-28

His blood was shed for many, ‘many’ my friend, not ‘few’ but ‘many’; and shed for the remission of sins, not just one sin, but sins; as many as you think you have, and then those you didn’t even realize existed. For indeed, this was God’s plan,

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17

And when God speaks, He doesn’t make idle claims.

“For as the rain and snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth,
Making it bear and sprout,
And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
So will My word be which goes out of My mouth;
It will not return to Me void (useless, without result),
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:10-11 [AMP]

You know, with man, words can sometimes be empty. But with God, His words are never empty, for whether you want to take this literally or metaphorically,

“…the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

Jesus is, by purpose and deed, the fulfillment of our Father’s words. For

“…as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13

So it makes perfect sense to

“Seek the Lord while He may be found;
Call on Him [for salvation] while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6 [AMP]

Because, while dying on the cross,

“Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.” Isaiah 53:4-5 [AMPC]

And that is why Paul can say,

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

Indeed, when you come to Him, this is what He has to offer,

“Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;
And you who have no money come, buy grain and eat.
Come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without cost [simply accept it as a gift from God].
Why do you spend money for that which is not bread,
And your earnings for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight in abundance.
Incline your ear [to listen] and come to Me;
Hear, so that your soul may live;
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
According to the faithful mercies [promised and] shown to David.” Isaiah 55:1-3 [AMP]

If it is provision you need, He has plenty in store for you. If it is peace you need, He has plenty in store for you. Anything and everything you could ever need for every area is freely available. And did I mention that it is all free?

My friend, while everyone could do with a million dollars more, what is of more value, what will give you longer lasting peace, is the knowledge that you have someone in your corner watching over you. When you know that, you don’t need that million dollars because you know that you will get whatever you need, whenever you need it. And that peace, my friend, is what Jesus has for you today.

Sure, accepting Jesus is probably not going to land you that million dollars right away, unless of course that is how He desires to answer your needs. But what it will most certainly do for you is give you peace knowing that because you are now righteous with God through Him, because Jesus bore the consequences of your sins on the cross, because God has no more reason to be angry with you, there is only one form of relationship you can ever have with God; that of a loving Father and His beloved child. No other permutation can occur because no other permutation exists, once you have put your faith in Jesus.

So my friend, if you have been thinking of committing your life to Jesus but have always felt to guilty to, Jesus is here, telling you that there is no reason to feel guilty, for just as “many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.” (Matthew 9:10), so too is His invitation extended to you today. Indeed, He said,

“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Mark 2:17

Or in another words, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice.” Matthew 9:13

My friend, come to him, just as you are,

“For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.” John 3:17 [AMPC]

So if you would like to receive Him today, then say this to Him right now.

“Jesus, thank You for loving me. Because you knew I would be looking to make this decision, You kept the door open for me until now. Father thank You for not willing that any who are Yours should be lost. Thank You for the patience You have had with me, so Jesus, I wait no longer. I accept that out of Your love for me, You went to the cross and bore my sins. I accept that through Your blood shed, I receive complete remission of all my sins. I accept that by Your death, I too die to sin and now have the power to say ‘no’. Jesus, thank You for making me a new creation. My old life has passed away and all things have become new. I look forward to walking each day with You by my side, guiding me, protecting me and providing for me. Amen.”

Beloved, child of God, it certainly was not too late for you. So now that you have taken that step, enjoy the rest of your life resting in our Father’s peace and comfort.
