Have you ever gotten a greeting card? Perhaps it was a birthday card or a note at Christmas. Now, even before we open the envelope, we know what it is going to say. After we open it, we are not surprised by its contents. Yet there is still a thrill and a joy to receive each and every greeting card, true? So today, Jesus wants to send you a greeting card. You know what it is going to say. When you open it, you will not be surprised by what it says. Yet, He feels it needs to be said anyway, so here it is. Enjoy.

“You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,
And called from its farthest regions,
And said to you,
‘You are My servant,
I have chosen you and have not cast you away:’” Isaiah 41:9

Beloved, no matter how the situation looks right now, no matter what others may say, Jesus is speaking to you right now. Not the person on the right nor the person on the left. Not your spouse, nor sibling nor mother-in-law. You. You whom He has called. You who were once so far away from Him, it might was well have been that you were at the ends of the earth. Yes, you. And He wants to tell you that you are not forgotten. You have been specially chosen. You were, are and always will be the one He specially chosen; and because you were specially chosen, you will not be cast away. You will not be abandoned.

And beloved, Jesus wants you to know that He knows all that you have done for Him. He knows how faithfully you have served Him. He knows that you have a heart just for Him and He is acknowledging that right now. But more than that, He is also assuring you that you are His. For just like in the day, servants were indentured and the responsibility of their masters, so too are you indentured to Him and your care and well-being is His responsibility. So beloved, your service has not been forgotten. Your heart for Him has not been ignored. And He certainly is not a bad boss.

“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” Isaiah 41:10

Beloved, He also wants you to know that today, He is writing to you not as Father; though that He always is; today He is writing to you as God. And as God, He wants you to know that you have every reason to trust in Him because not only does He hear your prayers and see your tears, not only does He know what you are going through, He will strengthen you and help you and uphold you, so you have every reason to be confident in Him. Our Father is many things but today, He wants to come as the God of your situation to turn things around mightily for you and pull you up because you are feeling low.

“Behold, all those who were incensed against you
Shall be ashamed and disgraced;
They shall be as nothing,
And those who strive with you shall perish.
You shall seek them and not find them—
Those who contended with you.
Those who war against you
Shall be as nothing,
As a nonexistent thing.
For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,
Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’” Isaiah 41:11-13

In the face of your persecution, your God stands with you. To those who contend with you, shame and disgrace shall come upon them, till they disappear from your presence. Those who were upset with you, found reason to bring a charge against you, shall vanish from before you; and they shall all be of no consequence to you. For your God is with you and He upholds you.

“Fear not, you worm Jacob,
You men of Israel!
I will help you,” says the Lord
And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
“Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth;
You shall thresh the mountains and beat them small,
And make the hills like chaff.
You shall winnow them, the wind shall carry them away,
And the whirlwind shall scatter them;
You shall rejoice in the Lord,
And glory in the Holy One of Israel.” Isaiah 41:14-16

Just like Paul has said,

“The mystery is that people who have never heard of God and those who have heard of him all their lives (what I’ve been calling outsiders and insiders) stand on the same ground before God. They get the same offer, same help, same promises in Christ Jesus. The Message is accessible and welcoming to everyone, across the board.” Ephesians 3:6 [MSG]

Because you have accepted Jesus and believed on His love for you, so now you stand on the same ground before God as His chosen people, Israel. You get the same offer, you get the same help and the same access to the same promises. So even though you feel as small as a worm, to the mountains of trouble that stand resolute before you, you shall beat them small. You shall fling them into the air like chaff and the Lord your God will scatter them. For He is here to help you.

“The poor and needy seek water, but there is none,
Their tongues fail for thirst.
I, the Lord, will hear them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
I will open rivers in desolate heights,
And fountains in the midst of the valleys;
I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
And the dry land springs of water.
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree,
The myrtle and the oil tree;
I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine
And the box tree together,
That they may see and know,
And consider and understand together,
That the hand of the Lord has done this,
And the Holy One of Israel has created it.” Isaiah 41:17-20

Because you feel poor, and you hunger and thirst, your God has heard you this day and will open to you the rivers of His supply. His supply will come from everywhere, even the places you never expected, springing up right in the valley of your troubles and appearing in the wilderness of your loss. His supply will be so rich that out of your desolation, an oasis will grow, filled with valuable timber and fruit. You will suddenly realize that your desert has now turned into a garden, replete with the best He has to offer.

So beloved, our Father, your God has spoken. This is nothing new; and neither are you surprised. Yet our Father saw fit to remind you this day that indeed, you have not been forgotten, indeed He is here to help you. So say ‘Amen’ to our Father’s promises,

“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” 2 Corinthians 1:20
