HOW DO WE GET JESUS TO RESTORE US?

Beloved, the answer to today’s question is simple. We don’t. Now, before you go away thinking that our God and Father is a ‘don’t call me, I’ll call you’ kind of God, I just want to assure you that He is nothing like that. Our Father IS in the business of restoration. For He says that if it is health that you have lost,

“For I will restore health to you
And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord,” Jeremiah 30:17

And if it is property that you have lost,

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.
You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
And praise the name of the Lord your God,
Who has dealt wondrously with you;
And My people shall never be put to shame.” Joel 2:25-26

For just as He said to Isaiah,

“Instead of your [former] shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach [your people] shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double [what they had forfeited]; everlasting joy shall be theirs.” Isaiah 61:7 [AMPC]

So if you have been wronged in any way or form, you will receive twofold recompense and double of all that you have forfeited; and joy shall always be your portion. Now, how do we activate these promises? We wait.

That is such a kill joy, isn’t it? Surely there must be something we can do? Well, let’s see. Remember when Jeremiah was put in prison and Israel was attacked by her enemies? Remember when our Father promised them this?

“Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it. And the Chaldeans who fight against this city shall come and set fire to this city and burn it, with the houses on whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke Me to anger; because the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only evil before Me from their youth. For the children of Israel have provoked Me only to anger with the work of their hands,’ says the Lord. ‘For this city has been to Me a provocation of My anger and My fury from the day that they built it, even to this day; so I will remove it from before My face because of all the evil of the children of Israel and the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke Me to anger—they, their kings, their princes, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And they have turned to Me the back, and not the face; though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction. But they set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to defile it. And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.’
“Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say, ‘It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence’: Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. They shall be My people, and I will be their God; then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from Me. Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and with all My soul.’” Jeremiah 32:28-41

Pardon the length but I had to have you read it in its entirety to make my point, and it is this. Did Israel need to do anything to get their restoration? Was any atonement called for? Was there some special ritual that needed to be performed? That’s right, none.

We think that God responds to actions from us. There is a special ‘rain dance’ that we must perform, hoops that we must jump through, in order for God to be willing to save us from our situation. But the truth is, there is nothing we need to do.

Now make no mistake. Israel brought this calamity upon themselves. They did sin against God and turn their backs on Him. And this was during the old testament era too. That meant that the law of Moses, the ‘do good get good, do bad get bad’ system was in place. And that system was in place because Israel declared,

“Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” Exodus 19:8

“All the people spoke at the same time and said, “We will obey everything the Lord says.” Exodus 19:8[GW]

They wanted to prove that they could earn their right standing with God and merit their blessings all on their own strength. Now even then, God did not call for them to make atonement for themselves before He restored them. What more us?

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

And because we are now righteous through Christ, we have every right to claim this promise of Jesus,

“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:13-14

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Mark 11:24

What do you think God wants us to do before He is willing to restore to us all that the locust has eaten? No, beloved, our restoration is always, yes, always, in the works. For as much as the evil one is trying to wreck our lives so that our Father looks bad, or Father is watching over us to ensure that even though the evil one

“…meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, …” Genesis 50:20

Yes, sometimes He wants our participation. And when that happens, just like He told Gideon what to do, He will tell us exactly what needs to be done. But apart from that, there is nothing else that we need to do. Well, nothing except to give our consent.

You see, just like the lady with the issue of blood had to reach out and touch Jesus to be healed, just like the leper had to be touched by Jesus to be healed, just like Mary and Martha had to be willing to roll the stone away from Lazarus’ tomb for Jesus to resurrect him, just like the man with the withered hand had to be willing to stand forth and allow Jesus to heal him, just like the disciples had to be willing to let Jesus into the boat during the storm for Him to calm it, just like all the other people who received their miracles had to consent to allow Jesus to work in their lives; you need to let Him, allow Him, give Him the right to work in your life, and that means you need to follow.

Now that could mean that, like Gideon, you whittle your 30,000 strong force to 300. That could mean that, like David, you go into battle with only your sling and stones. And yes, that could even mean that, like Jeremiah, you go buy property just before a war. If you are willing to let Jesus take control, then follow whatever He tells you to do, even if it seems downright silly at the time. For remember,

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”” Isaiah 55:8-9

Our Father does have a curious way of making the foolish things of the world put to shame the wise, and choosing the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty. (1 Corinthians 1:27)

Beloved, because

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

You do not have to merit your restoration. Yes, you may have to participate. Yes, you surely have to let go of your situation. Yes, sometimes the things our Father has you do goes against every sinew of logic in your mind. But our Father is good for every word, as He said,

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27

So have faith that your restoration and enhancement is coming your way. Soon

“…I will restore health to you
And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord,” Jeremiah 30:17

Soon

“… I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.
You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
And praise the name of the Lord your God,
Who has dealt wondrously with you;
And My people shall never be put to shame.” Joel 2:25-26

And very soon

“Instead of your [former] shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach [your people] shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double [what they had forfeited]; everlasting joy shall be theirs.” Isaiah 61:7 [AMPC]

Hold on to our Father’s promises and have faith for that is really all you need to do to have Him restore you because He will do all the rest.
