Since the dawn of this millennium, man has raised possible dates for Armageddon, or the end of the world. Several have come and gone. Yet, we are still here. But more than just having a morbid fascination about how the world will one day end, the end of the world actually spells relief and release for some, because when the world ends,

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”” Revelation 21:1-4

Not only that, we who believe, will finally be able to be free of our persecutors and their persecution for,

“And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”” Revelation 21:6-8

So all those bad landlords and bosses… just kidding.

But that day isn’t here yet, is it? And these people are still around.

“First off, you need to know that in the last days, mockers are going to have a heyday. Reducing everything to the level of their puny feelings, they’ll mock, “So what’s happened to the promise of his Coming? Our ancestors are dead and buried, and everything’s going on just as it has from the first day of creation. Nothing’s changed.” 2 Peter 3:3-4 [MSG]

Yet though we see these people in the flesh, may I stretch your imagination to include in this category of ‘troubles’ your cares, your worries, the pangs of guilt over what you have done and not done, the nagging feelings of doubt over your abilities; because just like the mockers who are in the flesh, these feelings come because of the other mocker, who is not in the flesh, but who is even more real, has greater access to your feelings and is often more convincing than those in the flesh. Yes, you know who. Because just like he was doing it to Joshua in Zechariah’s vision,

“Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him.” Zechariah 3:1

So too is he doing it to each and every one of us, every opportunity he gets. Why?

“Simon, Simon (Peter), listen! Satan has asked excessively that [all of] you be given up to him [out of the power and keeping of God], that he might sift [all of] you like grain,” Luke 22:31 [AMPC]

Just like he wanted to get at the apostles, Satan wants us out of our Father’s care. But not because he wants us for who we are, he just wants to make our Father look bad. And when we allow him to get into our minds and fill them with thoughts of condemnation, he certainly has been able to do a pretty good job, hasn’t he? So we need to be very mindful that,

“sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you,” Genesis 4:7 [AMP]

But take heart beloved, for even though,

“They conveniently forget that long ago all the galaxies and this very planet were brought into existence out of watery chaos by God’s word. Then God’s word brought the chaos back in a flood that destroyed the world. The current galaxies and earth are fuel for the final fire. God is poised, ready to speak his word again, ready to give the signal for the judgment and destruction of the desecrating skeptics.” 2 Peter 3:5-7 [MSG]

So why hasn’t our Father brought an end to it all?

Because of you. Not you, beloved child of God. You are already signed and sealed, waiting to be delivered to Heaven. You, my friend, the one who has yet to believe. You are the reason why the end of the world has not yet come. For remember,

“The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 [AMPC]
Jesus said,

“And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.” John 10:16

So it is reasonable to expect that there will come a time, we know not when, when our Father would have gathered all His sheep, from this fold, that fold and the other fold, and then it will all be over. But it will not be before that, for remember Jesus said,

“For I have come down from heaven not to do My own will and purpose but to do the will and purpose of Him Who sent Me.
And this is the will of Him Who sent Me, that I should not lose any of all that He has given Me, but that I should give new life and raise [them all] up at the last day.
For this is My Father’s will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day.” John 6:38-40 [AMPC]

And since, “The Lord knows those who are His” 2 Timothy 2:19

Not one shall perish till all who are His are in His kingdom. So my friend, because you are here right now reading this, you are the chosen, you are one of the flock whom our Father is reaching out to. He is waiting for you right now because He knows you are His and He does not want to lose you. Yes, you can reject Him. Yes you can say ‘no’. Yes, in this one area, because our Father put the right to choose in your hand, you can prove Him wrong and say that you want to be lost. But why would you? Especially when He has been ‘extraordinarily patient’ with you, not desiring that you should perish but that you believe so that you can enjoy the abundant life that Jesus came to bring. For remember, Jesus said,

“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.” John 3:16 [AMPC]

Think about that.

And for the rest of us who are already His? Well, remember, as Peter echoed the words of David,

“Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8 [AMPC]

So time takes on a different aspect with our Father. Yet, remember beloved,

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”” Isaiah 55:8-9

And while we are here,

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.” Matthew 6:31-32

Therefore, you just need to,

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:7-11

So then, whilst we are here, trust “that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.” Philippians 1:6 [AMPC]

“for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13

And while He is doing that, He will “…make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].” 2 Corinthians 9:8 [AMPC]

Because He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us”. Ephesians 3:20

And He is not going to be slow about that either.

So my friend, have you thought about just how much our Father loves you? Have you given the Spirit time to work in you the willingness to come back into our Father’s fold? If you have, then say this to Him.

“Father, thank You for loving me so much that you would shelve your plans, put all creation on ‘pause’, just for me. Thank You that I mean that much to you. Jesus, thank You for going to the cross for me, that by your shed blood, I can receive full and complete remission of sins, so that now I can stand before our Father with boldness, knowing that I am right with Him. Thank You that by your death and rising, I am free from the bondage of sin. Old habits, old ways of thinking have passed away and I am a new creation in You. Father, I look forward to a life in Your care, a life filled with Your provision and covered by Your protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

My friend, you are now a beloved child of God. Thank you for heeding His call so that we can all get to Heaven just that little bit earlier. Just kidding…
