Some time back, in the message Jesus Has Prepared a Feast for You, Come Home and Feast with Him, we saw how it is our Father’s will and desire that we be well-fed, abundantly supplied and comprehensively satisfied. Today, I would like for us to consider an alternative presentation of The Lord’s Prayer and let it reveal to us just how comprehensively and completely protected and provided for we will be when we turn to our Father.

Reveal who you are.
Set the world right.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.” Luke 11:2-4 [MSG]

There is such simplicity in the opening of the prayer that Jesus taught us, because really, our relationship with God is that simple, a Father to His child. We need to remember that always, especially in the face of trials and challenges, so that the world will not be able to rob us of the peace that our Father has given us.

I know that some of us may not have had the best of family environments growing up. Our own fathers, in the natural, may have been abusive, negligent or even absent; and to these beloved brethren, if this is you, I know exactly how you feel. But that is also why we should turn to our loving Heavenly Father all the more, because our Father is nothing like that. Our Father is not abusive. Our Father is not negligent.

“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.” John 3:16 [AMPC]

Our Father loves you. But He does not love you for what you can do for Him, He does not love you for what you can give Him; He loves you for who you are. He made you; He formed you, and as the psalmist says,

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;” Psalm 139:14

And He does not only love you when you are good, He loves you even when you are not so good, as it is written,

“He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.
For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:10-12

“For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.” John 3:17 [AMPC]

So good or bad, happy or sad, this is what our Father says to us,

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;” Isaiah 43:1-3

And “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16

Now, when we have a constant revelation of the truth that is our Father’s love for us, the sins of our previous generation can get wiped off our minds and out of our lives. This will then allow us not to perpetuate their sins to our future generations. Instead, we can live out our Father’s love to our children; and we can only do this when we are truly aware, conscious and have a full appreciation of just how much our Father loves us. So, Father is who God really is to us.

So what does our Father do for us? Yes, He sets our world right. As we have seen in the extended cut of the message Jesus Says, “Be Still”,

“I will go before you
And make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,” Isaiah 45:2-3

Obstacles will be overcome, opportunities will be created, paths will be made straight, strongholds will be broken, oppression will be lifted and provision will flow. That is how our Father sets the world right. Forget passive protection because that is already a given, as He has said,

“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.” Psalm 91: 5-7

This is so much more than passive protection. This is aggressive provision and our Father does it because He wants to exceed your expectations; and He can too, for He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us”. Ephesians 3:20

So He can surely do so much more than keep you alive with three square meals. He can keep you forgiven because,

“For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:10-11 [ESV]

“For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we shall certainly be united with Him in a resurrection like His.” Romans 6:5 [ESV]

And as if that is not enough,

“…He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25

“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him…” Hebrews 7:25

But not only that, He will keep you forgiving others. Now that’s a feat.

Beloved, we do indeed have a loving Father, and

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13

So “You call out to God for help and he helps—he’s a good Father that way. But don’t forget, he’s also a responsible Father, and won’t let you get by with sloppy living.” 1 Peter 1:17 [MSG]

He not only keeps us from the Devil, He also keeps us safe from ourselves.

“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10

And if it does not come your way, know that our Father has something even better in store, created especially just for you.
