Instinct is there for one reason and one reason only, self-preservation. When we are hungry, we know it is because we are running low on energy and need food to sustain our body’s functions. When we are sleepy, we know we need rest, because our bodies need the time to recover and repair. But with time, and no thanks to how the world has wired us, we have begun to stop trusting our instinct. Instead, we have begun to think that when our bodies tell us to eat, it is lying to us, leading us to sin. No wonder eating disorders have become prevalent.

It is also therefore little wonder that we no longer trust The One who said,

“For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” Jeremiah 29:11 [AMPC]

But why do we not trust that He wants peace for us? Why do we not believe that He wants no evil for us? Why do we not dare to depend on His thoughts for hope in our final outcome? After all, He was the one who made us. And indeed, King David, after spending a lifetime in the favor of God our Father, proclaimed,

“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.” Psalm 139:17-18

He is God, and it is little wonder then that He says,

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”” Isaiah 55:8-9

Perhaps it is because of what is written in the latter half of Deuteronomy 28, which is detailed in the message Cold Brew, Hot Brew, Choose Jesus Brew. But beloved, we need to realize that when we accepted Christ, and the gift of salvation which He came to bring, these curses are no longer for us, for

“Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Matthew 26:27-28

That is why,

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

And while our sinful lives are part of the old things that have passed away,

“For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:10-11 [ESV]

Another big part of what has passed away are the curses. For since our sins have been remitted, that means that,

“As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12

“And that’s not all. You will have complete and free access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth and heaven. …” Matthew 16:19 [MSG]

Because “…now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,” Ephesians 2:13-14

So there really is no reason for us not to trust Him.

Beloved, just like the sole purpose of our instinct is to protect us and not to harm us, the sole desire of Jesus and our Father is to bless us and prosper us. For this is why They made us in the first place.

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26

We were created with the sole purpose of enjoying all the good that our Father has created, the good which God Himself called “very good” and you know that when God says it is “very good”, it is very good indeed.

And now that our sins have been punished in the person and body of Jesus, there is nothing standing in our way of enjoying all the good that our Father has purposed for us. That is why Jesus said,

“I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10 [AMPC]

Beloved, Jesus already came, the life is already here. The only thing standing in your way is your own unbelief.

And if by chance you have never received Christ into your life and have never made Him your Lord and Savior; if you have never partook of His saving grace and would like to leave your sinful life behind, exchanging it for the new and abundant life that Jesus came to bring, then say this to our Father right now,

“Father, thank You for loving me. Thank You that whilst I was yet a sinner, You sent Your Son Jesus to die on the cross for me. That by His death, I may die to sin, and by His resurrection, I may live in newness of life, a life in You. Thank You Jesus that by Your blood shed, I can now receive full and complete remission of sins past, present and future. By Your body broken, I can receive healing and wholeness in mine. Father I believe that Your sole desire is to prosper me and see me well and I trust that even more than I trust my own instincts. So I rest in Your love, Your provision and protection, knowing that nothing can ever separate me from Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

“Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;” Psalm 91:9-10
“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.” Psalm 91:5-8

For our Father has said,

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16

Rest knowing that our Father loves you, that Jesus loves you and trust Them. They are more dependable than even your instincts.
