Any device that runs on batteries is only as good as the amount of energy in the batteries. Once the store of energy is depleted, the device is dead. In many ways, that is the same for us. Our store of energy could be strength, stamina, or even passion. But regardless, once that rush, that drive, that motivation is gone, we find it very difficult to carry on.

This is an unfortunate by-product of our transient world. But beloved, take heart because this limited world is passing away and in its place will come something better for it is written,

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.” Revelation 21:1

And in this new world, it will be like this.

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

But from now till then, we do have someone unceasing, untiring, unrelenting in His love for us, who will always be there for us. Yes, Jesus.

“Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.” Isaiah 40:28

If you are up in the middle of the night, He is there, wide awake, ready to hear you and willing to help. In the middle of the afternoon, when the world is caught up in the rush, and you need someone to help pull you back into sanity, He is never too busy to hear you and is always ready to help you. If you are rushing on the roads because your wife is about to give birth, or your alarm clock’s battery died and you got up late; and you need traffic to part for you, He is there to make it happen too.

Beloved, Jesus is like the father who sits by the bedside of his child who has taken ill; or the grandfather who sits in the rocking chair watching over his sleeping grandchild; ever vigilant, always ready to respond to the needs of the child.

And just like the child who sleeps better knowing that his father is right there next to them, so too can we as our Father’s children, sleep soundly and rest in His love, because He is there, right next to us, always, awake and ready for us when we call.

And just like any parent, all Jesus asks of us, as He is sitting there next to us, watching over us, is for us to trust Him for Jesus Himself said,

“Jesus replied, This is the work (service) that God asks of you: that you believe in the One Whom He has sent [that you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger].” John 6:29 [MSG]

For “[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.” Jeremiah 17:7 [AMPC]

“Those who trust in the Lord
Are like Mount Zion,
Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
So the Lord surrounds His people
From this time forth and forever.” Psalm 125:1-2

Because He is always there, there is nothing we you need fear. And for everything that you need in life, Jesus has promised that He will provide. For as the prophet Isaiah said,

“He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm,
And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young.” Isaiah 40:11

You will never go hungry, you will never be lost, you will never be alone, and when you are weary, He will carry you. Not only that, for you who put your trust in Jesus, you will receive an additional shot in the arm, for it is written,

“He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.” Isaiah 40:29

“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

If you have lost your strength, your drive, your vigor, Jesus will not only reinvigorate you, He will multiply it and cause it to abound. Perhaps the creator of Superman had this revelation, except that Jesus came from Heaven, which is not spelt K-R-Y-P-T-O-N.

Beloved, if you are feeling like this,

““God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me”?” Isaiah 40:27 [MSG]

Pay no more attention to that lie because the prophet Isaiah says,

“Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.” Isaiah 40:28 [MSG]

And because He lasts, His love and His presence, and therefore His promises of provision and protection last for you forever.

Beloved, look to Him and put your trust in Him because He is not far away, He is right there beside you for He has said,

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20

And always remember,

“Scripture reassures us, “No one who trusts God like this—heart and soul—will ever regret it.” It’s exactly the same no matter what a person’s religious background may be: the same God for all of us, acting the same incredibly generous way to everyone who calls out for help. “Everyone who calls, ‘Help, God!’ gets help.” Romans 10:11-13 [MSG]
